Job Description for LIFE Teacher (K - 5)

Read over all documentation that arrives for a new student if an IEP and/or Psychoeducational Evaluation is present, and make recommendations.

Write and present ASP.

Conduct yearly ASP meetings and adjust as needed during the school year.

Administer the Kaufman Achievement Test, analyze results and present reports to parents and classroom teachers.

Communicate and plan with the classroom teachers and dual instructors.

Update ASP with quarterly progress.

Copy “recommendation and modification/accommodation” portions of PsychoEd evaluation and ASP for the classroom teachers.

Communicate student needs to special areas teachers.

Communicate weekly and other times, as needed, with parents about student progress.

ASP progress reports need to be sent home at the end of each nine weeks.

Consultation with Dual Instruction teacher and classroom teacher

Lessons can have a flexible format. When possible one lesson can cross grade levels and be differentiated.

Attend trainings to stay current with best practices.
-
Collaborate with the LIFE teachers and directors in Middle School and High School.

Make sure LIFE files are current and safely stored in PANS room.

Collaborate with the Elementary Principal to create the daily schedule. Schedule will be evaluated for effectiveness and may change.

When prospective families are visiting, greet with positivity and provide answers to questions pertaining to the LIFE program.

Read tests to students as needed, classroom and standardized tests.

Have solid knowledge of phonics, syllabication, and basic reading skills.

Have a solid knowledge of developmental skills for K-5 students.

Support in the general classroom with students.
-
Have knowledge of general age-appropriate skills for each grade level.
-
Knowledge of WISC and Woodcock Johnson and how to interpret scores and Psychoed evaluations.
