Nolan Arnold Named National Merit Commended Scholar
Each year, our students take part in the PSAT test in October along with a few million other students in the U.S. Our students take this test for a variety of reasons. Underclassmen in grades 8, 9, and 10 take the test essentially for practice purposes. For juniors, they have the opportunity to take the test and potentially earn a National Merit Scholarship. This year, we were notified that one of our students scored very well on the PSAT when compared to her peers all over the country. Nolan Arnold has been named a “Commended Student” in the National Merit Scholarship Program. She has received a Letter of Commendation from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, which means that she scored one of the top 50,000 scores in the country. Approximately 3.5 - 4 million students take the PSAT nationwide each year. Although she did not score high enough to continue on in the Merit competition to be designated a National Merit Semifinalist, this achievement places her among the best high school seniors in the country.
