Junior Beta
The purpose of The National Beta Club is to promote the ideas of character, service and leadership among students. The Junior Beta Club at Nashville Christian School is comprised of seventh, eighth, and ninth grade students. Induction into the club is held each spring. Students must have a 3.3 grade point average and exemplary discipline to qualify for nomination. The faculty selects new members based on their qualifications and teacher recommendations.

To uphold membership status, students must maintain a 3.3 GPA which is checked every nine weeks and possess an exemplary disciplinary record at the discretion of the Disciplinary Committee and Junior Beta Sponsors. Students must also participate in at least 5 hours of service work.

The big event each fall is the Junior Beta Convention. The Convention is held every November at Opryland Hotel. Schools from all over Tennessee come and compete against each other in areas from a math bowl to Arts and Crafts. In addition, they participate in a service project each spring.

Marching Band / Concert Band
Students in seventh grade through twelfth grade participate in the Marching and Concert Bands.  Marching Band performs in the fall at our NCS football games.  The themes of past shows have included “Pirates of the Caribbean” and “It’s All About Joel: The Music of Billy Joel.”  Students play an upbeat selection of pep tunes in the stands as well.

In the late fall and spring, the focus of the group turns to concert music.  The Concert Band plays a wide variety of styles, including marches, tone poems, classical transcriptions, popular music, and music from all around the world.  Members are also given opportunities to form small ensembles.

National Honor Society
The Nashville Christian School chapter of the National Honor Society was established in 1978.

…from the NHS Constitution, “The National Honor Society (NHS) is the nation's premier organizations established to recognize outstanding high school students. More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since the beginning in 1921.  The four main purposes have guided chapters of NHS from the beginning: To create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership, and to develop character in the students of secondary schools.  Chapter membership not only recognizes students for their accomplishments, but challenges them to develop further through active involvement in school activities and community service.”

The current NCS National Honor Society has taken the initiative to rewrite the 30 year old bylaws of the chapter and to add standards that relate to the current students. They are also involved in various community charities and sponsor a yearly “Health Day” in memory of an alum that provides fun activities for the younger students at NCS and teaches them the importance of healthy diet and exercise in their daily lives.  The proceeds from Health Day go to a scholarship fund for a deserving senior each year.

Rock Band
Students in High School who play guitar, electric bass, drums, or keyboards may audition for the Rock Band. This group plays in several rock and popular styles, and functions as the support group for the NCS Entertainers, our premier vocal group. The auditions for this group are held in May for the next year’s group, but exceptional students entering after that time may be granted membership in the group with permission of the director.

Entertainers
Entertainers membership is by audition only and is comprised of freshmen, sophomore, junior and senior students. This group consists of five to ten talented, energetic, and enthusiastic high school students with a passion for music and entertaining. Entertainers perform a variety of musical styles including madrigals, vocal jazz, pop, broadway and country. Off campus performing engagements and participation in the Christian School Choral Festival are required.
