Join fellow eagles and serve the homeless at Room in the Inn. Together we provide shelter, clothing, food, & fellowship for those who are without at Bellevue UnitedMethodist Church.
Room in the Inn is a great
opportunity for students to meet
their service requirements.
Below is a list of different roles in which you can serve.
-
Serve as an Inn Keeper – 2 adults and 2 students students stay the night, assist the guests, provide fellowship, set up coffee and breakfast in the morning, and help clean up after guests leave.
-
Donate Clothing and/or Supplies for up to 12 men. Suggestions include: men’s large boxer shorts / white tube socks / undershirts / gloves / stocking caps / toothpaste and toothbrushes / deodorant / sinus medicine - night and/or daytime / cough drops / etc. Generally, multiple families will volunteer to provide and deliver one or more items from this list.
-
Prepare and Deliver Dinner for 16 (12 guests and 4 inn keepers.) Dinner includes: entree(s), salad, vegetable, beverage, and dessert. Generally we find 2-3 families who divide and provide all of the aforementioned. The Church's kitchen has all the utensils and cooking appliances needed.
-
Serve as a Host – 4-6 students and/or adults to serve dinner / offer fellowship / and help clean up afterwards.
-
Provide Breakfast Items for 16 (12 guests and 4 inn keepers.) Breakfast items include: cereal, doughnuts, milk, juice, and bag of ground coffee. Items should be delivered Saturday night and will be set out and served in the morning by the Inn Keepers.
-
Prepare and Deliver Bagged Lunches for 12 guests. Lunches include sandwich, chips, fruit, napkin, and a note of encouragement if you feel moved to. (Some volunteers with young ones have even decorated the bags with drawings and messages of hope.)
