Greg Hines was our second speaker for
Spiritual Emphasis Week in High School chapel on Tuesday
We have been blessed with guest speakers throughout the year in our chapels. Likewise, we have well qualified faculty who teach our children every day. One of these is Mr. Greg Hines. Mr. Hines teaches High School Bible, Latin and Dual-Enrollment Speech. He delivered a superb PowerPoint presentation and timely message on demolishing arguments and pretensions from 2 Corinthians 10:5.
Mr. Hines' message began with a reminder that there is a strong force in our world that is not easily dealt with. However, there is comfort in the words of Jesus that He has the ability to bind, overpower ,and conquer Satan. This power is always available for us to demolish the strongholds in our lives.
Mr. Hines said that it is too easy for us to fall into the trap of thinking we are beaten, or that there is no answer, but the Bible says, "Yes we can!" Satan misleads us into thinking, feeling, and behaving in certain ways. He says, "Go ahead and be bitter. You have a right to feel that way. Your a victim. Be mad!" Satan uses excuses and rationalizations, for example: "There are people far worse than me," or "I'll worry about it later," and "No one will ever find out." Satan knows what to say and when to say it.
Mr. Hines concluded with several scriptures reminding us that the mind is the center-place for our transformation. God has given us divine power to sweep away the pretensions. He said we must find a way to turn our minds more to God. We must decide to turn away from the pulls of the world; it's not going to happen without our decision and action. If we lose the battle in our mind, we will lose the war against Satan. Mr. Hines finished with a prayer--acknowledging God's power in the room---and boldly asking God to obliterate the strongholds in our lives.
