The LIFE program is designed to meet the needs of students who are strong candidates for being mainstreamed into a rigorous college prep program. Students of various learning differences have benefited from the program. In addition to teaching effective coping strategies, students with learning differences are educated in a setting that approximates as closely as possible the conditions and requirements of their other class peers. Indeed, the goal for a LIFE student while at NCS is to be as much a part of the regular school programming as their abilities will allow. LIFE students at Nashville Christian are encouraged to not just passively participate, but to actually lead and/or compete in regular activities when they are qualified to do so. As a result, LIFE students have excelled in all areas of scholastic life including art, academics, athletics and even international spiritual mission activities.
The program has operated long enough to be able to track the long range success of its Alumni. The LIFE program at Nashville Christian is able to proudly claim distinguished professionals in such successful walks of life as art and law. Their creativity and hard work benefits the world outside of Nashville Christian in ways that inspire other individuals, families and schools. Over the years, many schools throughout the Southeastern United States have used the LIFE program at NCS as a model. Private and Public Universities in the state of Tennessee continue to refer professionals to NCS for the purpose of observing the professional practices of the caring yet highly competent staff.
Granted, technology and educational practices continue to change. Nevertheless, the LIFE program at Nashville Christian traces its success to its pioneering mission to foster and develop the full potential of persons made in the image of God. We believe our students to be persons with a purpose. Consequently, we work hard to prepare them to meet the life endeavors to which they are called. In the continuance of this mission, we remain rooted and strong.
