So what do the Old West and Cowpokes have to do with an
early childhood learning environment?
It is one of many themes used by ECLC instructors to engage and instruct three year olds. Last week they had a "Cowboy/Cowgirl Day”, “50’s Day”, and a “Classical Day” in which they incorporated music and costumes.
The ECLC curriculum is built around weekly themes which include topics such as music, art, stories, numbers, letters, shapes, and characters from the bible. Using these topics ECLC instructors are able to engage students in discussions, age appropriate skill acquisition exercises, fine motor and gross motor activities, and social/emotional experiences. Every week the instructors insure that the children experience at least 6 of the aforementioned topics.
